The Miaford Commonwealth is bordered by the Sea of Heredia to the south, the Kingdom of Langington to the north, the Province of Torresan to the east, and the Sea of Sorrow to the west. Home to a large population of humans, as well as smaller communities of Pseithen, Fpathen, Dervatear, and Havanathe, the Miaford Commonwealth falls under the juristiction of the Kingdom of Langington and King Durant de Angelosis the Fifth; however, Miaford is ruled by the King's younger brother, Prince Khyle de Angelosis.
Prince Khyle, known as the Noble Prince throughout Miaford and Langington, has been in power for eight years, ever since his father, the late King Durant de Angelosis the Fourth, died and his brother went from ruling the Miaford Commonwealth to ruling the Kingdom of Langington. Prince Khyle lives and rules out of the capital city of Crierton, a large coastal city located on the shores of Sorrow's Pass and boasting one of the largest shipping import/export industries in all of Western Glashia. Much of what is bought and sold in the Kingdom of Langington and those nations to the north of it travel south through Lake Gideon and Gideon River to the city of Watersmeet, located where the Gideon River flows into the Sea of Sorrow. From there the goods travel again south, either to the Kingdom of Aarenki's capital of Ashkum, or Miaford's capital city of Crierton, where the goods must pass through Miaford customs before being shipped through Sorrow's Pass and on to its destination.
Foodstuff and lumber are two major industries that keep the Miaford Commonwealth alive, but neither compares to its large mining industry. Within The Twins, a small range of mountains cut in half by the Gideon River, are deep caverns rich with gold, silver, and copper, as well as gems and rare stones of every shape and size. More metal is mined from The Twins of the Miaford Commonwealth than the Kingdom's of Langington and Aarenki combined (King Durant of Langington has yet to see how well the mines in the newly aquired Fillian Mountains fair). Unfortunately, this cannot last forever, something that Prince Khyle de Angelosis realized a short time after taking office. Thus, Prince Khyle laid claim to a section of the Mountains of Nerous-tann located east of Torresan and north of where the country of Zambari begins. Unclaimed as far back as Prince Khyle could research, this area of foothills and range is virgin land, untouched by human or non-human hands alike.
